The protein encoded by this gene is thought to be part of a complex involved in the ATP-dependent transport of transit peptide-containing proteins from the inner cell membrane to the mitochondrial matrix. Defects in this gene are a cause of 3-methylglutaconic aciduria type 5 (MGA5), also known as dilated cardiomyopathy with ataxia (DCMA). Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. Related pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 1, 2, 6, 10, 14 and 19. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2012]
Modules significantly affected by knockdown. ↑ Up = module upregulated upon KD; ↓ Down = module downregulated upon KD.

Genes likely regulated by DNAJC19 through linked binding evidence in open chromatin. The chart ranks TF-linked genes by their mean Perturb-seq response to DNAJC19 knockdown, with negative coefficients indicating downregulation and positive coefficients indicating upregulation upon knockdown.
Open chromatin elements (ATAC-seq) where DNAJC19 has ChIP-seq or motif footprint binding evidence and which are linked to at least one target gene region.
| Element | Size | Linked genes |
|---|
Transcription factors with Perturb-seq knockdown data for DNAJC19. The Binding column indicates whether any binding evidence exists for this TF–gene pair (ChIP-seq or motif footprint peaks). The Mean coef is the average Perturb-seq regression coefficient across active gRNAs (positive = DNAJC19 upregulated upon KD; negative = downregulated). The Outlier column indicates whether this gene is in the top or bottom 5% of all TF knockdown effects.

Open chromatin peaks (ATAC-seq) in the genomic neighbourhood of DNAJC19, linked by TSS proximity or chromatin conformation (Multiome / HiCAR). Each element overlaps at least one TF ChIP-seq binding site — the TFs column shows how many distinct TFs bind that element.
